Psychosocial Intervention and Gender Violence in Quito: Dilemmas and Challenges (Phase 2)

This project addresses the need to expand the understanding of gender-based violence beyond the victim-perpetrator dichotomy, focusing on psychosocial intervention and professional training in psychology. Historically, attention to gender-based violence has evolved from NGOs to specialized municipal services, with previous research predominantly focused on the judicial sphere or the 'clinical victimology' of women. A significant gap has been identified in the training of psychologists regarding gender issues and a lack of research on intervention with aggressors, dating violence, homosexual relationships, and violence in workplace and university settings (including sexual harassment). The research aims to explore the conceptions and intervention practices with under-addressed subjects, such as aggressors, and analyze the role of citizen oversight committees. Methodologically, narrative productions will be employed, based on feminist epistemologies and situated knowledge, complemented by secondary source review, participant observation, and surveys. The ultimate goal is to propose psychosocial intervention strategies that address the complexity of the phenomenon and strengthen the professional capacity of psychologists.<br/><br/><b>Goal</b>: <br/>The main objective is to deepen the understanding of gender-based violence within psychosocial intervention, analyzing its dilemmas and specific challenges for professional training processes in the field of psychology.<br/><br/><b>Research lines</b>: <br/>Political, social and community psychology
