Proposal for the Creation of the Web Accessibility Observatory at the Salesian Polytechnic University

Project Details

Description

This project aims to materialize the Proposal for Public Policies on web accessibility in Ecuador, currently under review by CONADIS, through the establishment of a dedicated Observatory. The primary goal is to create a formal mechanism to monitor and report adherence to the international ISO/IEC 40500 standard. The methodology is founded on the learning cycle (experimentation, reflection, conceptualization, and application). Initially, an experimentation phase will be conducted to thoroughly understand the issues and determine best practices for accessible web development. Subsequently, through reflection, accessibility analysis components will be examined to conceptualize the development of an expert system. This system will function as an application providing necessary feedback to validate the compliance of web pages with accessibility standards, thereby promoting legal normalization in the country.

Goal:
To propose the creation of a Web Accessibility Observatory to monitor and report compliance with the ISO/IEC 40500 standard in Ecuador, continuing previous public policy initiatives.

Research lines:
Inclusion technologies
