Project Details
Description
This project addresses the need to strengthen the sustainability of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the Azuay province by analyzing the specific role of popular finance mechanisms and products. The Ecuadorian context is characterized by disorderly business growth and a high failure rate among ventures, many of which originate out of necessity without prior planning. The proposed methodology is deductive, starting with an exhaustive review of the state-of-the-art regarding SMEs and popular finance nationally and regionally. Subsequently, a detailed field study will be conducted in Azuay using surveys and interviews with key stakeholders (SMEs and popular financial institutions). Statistical methodologies will be employed to determine sample size, and statistical software will be used for data tabulation and analysis. The ultimate goal is to structure concrete proposals based on the findings to improve the reality of the local business sector through tailored financial instruments.

Goal:
To analyze the extent to which popular finance, with its specific mechanisms and products, can contribute to the sustainability and viability of SMEs in the Azuay province.

Research lines:
Popular economy, popular finance and MSMEs
