Political Participation of Young People: Spaces and Militant Trajectories (Phase 3)

Project Details

Description

This research project focuses on the study of youth political participation in Ecuador, addressing the forms, modalities, and trajectories of militancy among youth affiliated with diverse political organizations. The study is situated within the field of youth studies, acknowledging two main trends: participation within the institutional channels of the political system and practices carried out outside these spheres. Unlike previous qualitative studies, this project adopts a quantitative perspective to analyze militant trajectories across three axes: territory, school, and political organization. The goal is to investigate militancy within organizations of varying ideological tendencies (including PSC-Madera de Guerrero, Unidad Popular, and Alianza PAIS) through the administration of a random survey to youth members of these organizations during the pre-electoral period from July 2016 to January 2017. The methodology aims to capture the practices and discourses of these youth associative forms (FAJ) to understand their politicization and potential impact on the political system.

Goal:
To investigate the forms, modalities, and trajectories of youth linked to different Ecuadorian political organizations, utilizing a quantitative perspective applied through a survey.

Research lines:
Social and political participation of children and young people
