Platform for Sporadic Networks to Provide Next-Generation Information Services for Users on the Move

Project Details

Description

This project addresses the social deficiencies caused by traditional social networks and smartphones, such as 'desocialization' and the FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) phenomenon, which promote disconnection from the immediate physical environment and generate paranoia about constant connectivity. The primary goal is to develop an innovative platform based on Opportunistic Networks for mobile users. The methodological approach is investigative, utilizing analysis-synthesis and induction-deduction. Phases involve an exhaustive literature review, establishing the state-of-the-art in augmented mobile computing, and defining base mechanisms for deploying services within these networks. Finally, these mechanisms will be simulated in urban scenarios through the deployment of a specific service to validate their effectiveness in providing contextual and personalized services, mitigating the negative effects of current hyper-connectivity.

Goal:
To create a platform for opportunistic networks designed for mobile users, aiming to deliver next-generation services that are context-aware and tailored to the individual user.

Research lines:
Optical networks
