Project Details
Description
This research project, led by the GIETEC group at the Universidad Politécnica Salesiana (UPS), focused on the analysis and optimization of next-generation optical transport and access networks. Addressing the growing demand for high speed and efficiency in communications, the team developed prototypes and technical models to evaluate optimal configuration parameters, aiming to reduce operational complexity without sacrificing performance.
The methodological approach included an exhaustive review of the state of the art, network architecture design, and the experimental implementation of prototypes. The results obtained allowed for the validation of high-efficiency configurations, directly contributing to technical knowledge in the field of fiber optics and digital communications.
As a primary impact, the project strengthened the academic practice of the Telecommunications program, integrating findings into the training of graduate and undergraduate students. Furthermore, the results provide a valuable technical foundation for companies in the sector, promoting the development of more robust and efficient connectivity infrastructure, aligned with sustainable development goals for digital communities.

Goal:
Analyze and optimize the performance of next-generation optical access and transport networks through the design and implementation of low-complexity prototypes.
