Description
This project addresses the challenge of high implementation costs associated with WDM PON networks, which are promising solutions for meeting the increasing bandwidth demands of modern applications. The primary goal is to develop an algorithmic solution for the optimal dimensioning of these networks. The methodology begins with an exhaustive literature review of the state-of-the-art using scientific databases such as ScienceDirect and IEEExplorer to identify novel problems and results in PON network dimensioning. Subsequently, an advanced algorithm based on Integer Linear Programming (ILP) and heuristics will be implemented. This algorithm is specifically designed to optimize the configuration of PON networks serving a large volume of users with varying bandwidth requirements. The project's impact will be demonstrated by presenting the obtained results in two scientific papers submitted to SCOPUS-indexed international conferences: IEEE - Fotonica and OSA - LAOP.<br/><br/><b>Goal</b>: <br/>To design and implement an algorithm for the optimal dimensioning of PON networks, aiming to select the most suitable PON standard in scenarios characterized by a large number of users and heterogeneous bandwidth demand.<br/><br/><b>Research lines</b>: <br/>Telecommunications and information technologies
