Municipal Transparency: Analysis of the Efficacy of Policies and Tools for the Treatment and Access to Public Information in the Municipalities of Ecuador (Phase 2)

The 'Municipal Transparency' project analyzed the effectiveness of policies and tools for the treatment and access to public information in Ecuadorian municipalities. Given the lack of an exclusive oversight body and the persistence of corruption, the research evaluated compliance with the LOTAIP on municipal websites, using mixed methodologies and the Infoparticipa Map framework. The primary focus was to audit the management of political officials and improve institutional communication practices. The goal was to transform public information into an accessible and understandable resource for citizens, promoting a culture of transparency and civic auditing. Although the project faced challenges in executing certain field activities and training, it succeeded in integrating technological tools for data monitoring and contributed to the academic debate on institutional communication and participatory democracy in the Ecuadorian context.<br/><br/><b>Goal</b>: <br/>To visualize the level of compliance with the Organic Law of Transparency and Access to Public Information (LOTAIP) in Ecuadorian municipalities.
