Project Details
Description
This project focuses on improving the comprehensive management of solid waste in the Canton of Ambato, driven by the Municipal Public Company for the Comprehensive Management of Solid Waste (EPMGIDSA). The fundamental goal is to achieve more efficient, effective, environmentally sustainable, and financially viable management, promoting citizen collaboration. The problem addressed is the need for adequate planning, which requires precise statistical data on the quantity and composition of generated waste, segmented by socioeconomic stratum and user type. The proposed methodology includes collecting and validating data on per capita production and waste characterization, authorized by EPMGIDSA. Random sampling will be used to validate the characterization by collection sectors and parishes. Furthermore, georeferencing maps will be utilized for the spatial location of the data. Finally, a multisectoral statistical analysis of the validated data will be performed to propose practical solutions and concrete measures to optimize the solid waste management system.

Goal:
To conduct a multisectoral statistical analysis of solid waste generation in the Canton of Ambato to improve the efficiency of the current solid waste management system.

Research lines:
Solid waste and optimization of renewable energies
