Description
This project focuses on the molecular identification of microorganisms with biotechnological potential, collected from the natural regions of Ecuador (Coast, Highlands, Oriente, and Galapagos Islands), as part of a broader effort to isolate antibiotic-producing strains. The problem addressed is the need to accurately identify and characterize microbial populations, overcoming the limitations of traditional culture methods by employing advanced molecular techniques. The methodology involves DNA extraction and purification from soil samples, following a standardized protocol that includes pre-incubation, thermal lysis, and centrifugation, utilizing certified ROCHE kits. Subsequently, the purified DNA undergoes Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR). Amplification is performed on a LightCycler Instrument (Roche Diagnostics) under a 40-cycle protocol, including positive (ATCC standards) and negative controls. The ultimate goal is to molecularly characterize these microorganisms to harness their potential for producing metabolites of economic importance or as biocontrol agents, thereby improving human living standards.<br/><br/><b>Goal</b>: <br/>To molecularly identify microorganisms of biotechnological interest collected from the natural regions of Ecuador using Real-Time PCR techniques.<br/><br/><b>Research lines</b>: <br/>Biodiversity and genetic resources
