Project Details
Description
This research and technological development project, in its second phase, focuses on improving the holistic well-being of the Elderly (AM) through the design and application of a mobile solution. The problem addressed is the inefficient and physical management of clinical information for the elderly, especially in rural areas, which hinders timely and interdisciplinary care. The proposed solution is a mobile application aimed at health professionals (doctors, dentists, gerontologists) that allows access to clinical records and histories digitally and immediately, complying with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) characteristics. The application includes modules for profile management, clinical history backup, and geolocation. Furthermore, the assessment of oral health status using the GOHAI index is integrated. The project is a multidisciplinary collaboration between several higher education institutions (UPS, UC, UCC, ITU American College) and aims to generate a scientific impact through the publication of an indexed article, a political impact by facilitating the generation of public policies based on updated data, and a social impact by improving the quality of life of the elderly and optimizing healthcare personnel resources.

Goal:
To implement and evaluate digital tools that intervene in improving the care and attention of the elderly, specifically by developing field tests of the mobile application to adjust its use to the Ecuadorian rural environment.

Research lines:
Telematics
