Methodologies for the Sustainable Consumption and Use of Domestic and Commercial Resources and Waste in the City of Guayaquil (MCAR)

Project Details

Description

This project addresses the growing pressure on natural resources, such as water and electricity, and the challenge of solid waste management in Guayaquil, stemming from unsustainable consumption in homes and businesses. The main goal is to promote a culture of consumption reduction and waste utilization, seeking alternatives to the costly implementation of clean technologies. The methodology focuses on analyzing consumption and waste generation from a sustainable development perspective. A structured approach will be implemented, including the selection of case studies, the development of data collection protocols, statistical analysis of exogenous variables related to consumption, and environmental impact assessment. Furthermore, international urban sustainability models will be analyzed to identify applicable strategies for Guayaquil. The project aims to quantify impacts, establish causal relationships, and propose resource management and final disposal models that allow for the reincorporation of solid waste into value chains, contributing to social responsibility and the improvement of production processes.

Goal:
To develop methodologies focused on reducing resource consumption (water, electricity) and utilizing solid waste generated by households and businesses in the city of Guayaquil, promoting a sustainable development model.

Research lines:
Energy efficiency and environmental pollution
