Inclusion of Visually or Hearing Impaired Persons in the Higher Education Teaching Program (PEA) of the Systems Engineering Career at UPS, Guayaquil Campus (INCLED)

Project Details

Description

This project addresses the necessity of overcoming educational barriers for visually impaired students at the Salesian Polytechnic University, Guayaquil Campus, focusing initially on the Systems Engineering program. The purpose is to establish an inclusive educational environment through the provision and implementation of specialized technological resources, including adapted hardware (such as touch monitors and special keyboards) and specific software (like NVDA and custom solutions). The solution centers on developing hardware and software components that facilitate individual or accompanied self-study, providing essential support to both faculty and students. The methodology combines theoretical, analytical, and field research, including bibliographic studies and case analyses. Exploratory, descriptive, and evaluative methods will be employed, utilizing trial-and-error testing with a sample of four students with diverse disabilities. Information gathering techniques such as observation, surveys (direct and online), and interviews with the educational community will be applied, with collected data being statistically analyzed to underpin the development of the necessary pedagogical and technological tools for truly inclusive education.

Goal:
The main objective is to promote the inclusion of visually impaired individuals in the teaching-learning process at the Salesian Polytechnic University, Guayaquil Campus, by developing a comprehensive educational environment.
