General objective Design and implement a new generation optical access network based on UDWDM PON technology through coherent transmission techniques in order to characterize the quality of converged data transmission in this type of network. Justification In a UDWDM PON network, the separation of the channels is less than in other types of networks, typically 10 GHz or less, so it takes much more advantage of the electromagnetic spectrum. Thus, one of the most promising solutions for the future to deliver ultra-broadband dedicated channels to users are the UDWDM PON networks, for which their study is of great interest. Currently there are no conclusive studies regarding the commercial viability of UDWDM PON networks, which is why research into low-cost implementation techniques for this type of network is of interest.
