ILP Model for the Optimization of WDM-PON Network Implementation

Project Details

Description

This project focuses on addressing the outstanding challenges in the implementation of Passive Optical Networks (PONs), which are considered the next-generation network offering the best cost-to-performance ratio. The primary objective is to develop an Integer Linear Programming (ILP) model specifically designed to optimize the implementation of WDM-PON networks, ensuring the lowest possible cost. The methodology involves an exhaustive state-of-the-art investigation through the review of indexed scientific literature. Additionally, essential data will be gathered via simulations and field measurements. Finally, the collected information will undergo rigorous analysis and mathematical modeling using specialized tools. The final outcome of this research will be formalized through the writing of a scientific paper documenting the developed model and its findings in cost optimization for WDM-PON networks.

Goal:
Develop an Integer Linear Programming (ILP) model to determine the implementation of WDM-PON networks that minimizes operational and infrastructure costs.

Research lines:
Telematics
