This project addresses the lack of data regarding the incidence of autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, in the population of Guayaquil, Ecuador. The research focuses on the rs1800795 polymorphism of the IL-6 gene, a key genetic marker in the regulation of the inflammatory response, whose presence could influence susceptibility to autoimmune and cardiovascular pathologies.
The methodological approach includes collecting venous blood samples from patients at the Hospital Naval Guayaquil, followed by DNA extraction and analysis using real-time PCR and sequencing techniques. This process will allow for the identification of nucleotide sequence variations and the determination of allelic frequency in patient groups and healthy controls.
The expected results aim to strengthen personalized medicine in the country by providing precise diagnostic tools and contributing to the understanding of underlying genetic mechanisms. Furthermore, the study intends to influence public health policies by generating local data that allows for better resource allocation and the design of effective preventive strategies.<br/><br/><b>Goal</b>: <br/>Identify the genotypes and allelic frequency of the IL-6 gene polymorphism rs1800795 in Guayaquil patients to analyze its association with autoimmune and cardiovascular diseases.
