Description

This project focuses on analyzing the complex ecological interactions between fauna and flora within the Aguarongo Protected Forest, an area of high biodiversity in southern Ecuador, located in the Azuay province. The forest faces significant threats such as declining soil productivity, indiscriminate burning, and livestock impacts, leading to the loss of vital ecosystem services. The primary goal is to map and describe these Plant-Animal interrelationships to reinforce understanding of the ecosystem's health and well-being. The methodology involves the integrated analysis of existing data on Herpetofauna, general Fauna, Entomofauna, and Vascular and Lichen Flora. Special emphasis will be placed on representative species, those classified by the IUCN, and endemic species. Specifically, the functionality of pollinators (insects and birds) will be analyzed, as well as seed dispersal carried out by mammals, to assess the overall ecological functionality of the forest.<br/><br/><b>Goal</b>: <br/>To determine and describe the existing interactions between fauna (animal) and flora (plant) groups within the Aguarongo Protected Forest.<br/><br/><b>Research lines</b>: <br/>nan
