Expectations of the Indigenous Family Regarding Education (Phase 1)

This research project focuses on identifying and analyzing the expectations of indigenous families regarding education and their perceptions of local educational processes in Pedro Moncayo and Tabacundo. The study addresses the tensions and ruptures generated by the impact of education on these communities over the last 30 years, questioning the necessity and the short- and long-term future of the Intercultural Bilingual Education (IBE) model. The methodology combines exploratory historiographical research of educational actions with qualitative and quantitative field investigation. Techniques such as observation, interviews, and surveys will be employed to gather perspectives from parents, students, and teachers. The quantitative phase will include developing figures, maps, and georeferences to characterize the research subject. Finally, the results will be systematized and socialized with educational and community leaders, disseminating scientific findings in academic and community circuits in various languages, promoting the practical application of an intercultural curriculum.<br/><br/><b>Goal</b>: <br/>To understand the expectations arising from indigenous families regarding the professional future of their children in the educational sphere, specifically within the indigenous communes and communities in the cantons of Pedro Moncayo and Tabacundo in the Province of Pichincha.<br/><br/><b>Research lines</b>: <br/>Indigenous language, education and interculturality
