Evaluation of Emotions Considering Cognitive Processes Implied in Facial Expressions

This research project addresses the lack of a comprehensive evaluation of emotions that considers internal cognitive processes, such as attention, memory, and executive functions, rather than focusing solely on external manifestations. Given the growing need to improve psychological well-being and emotional regulation, especially following the challenges posed by the pandemic, the study proposes a multidisciplinary approach integrating cognitive psychology and neuroscience. The methodology is divided into three stages: a systematic review of scientific literature, an experimental study with a representative sample of adults using automated facial recognition software, and an interpretation phase to develop more effective therapeutic interventions. The project aims to validate a multimodal evaluation system that allows for understanding how emotions influence cognition and vice versa. Expected results include the publication of two scientific articles indexed in Scopus and the development of emotional training strategies. This work will benefit health professionals, academics, and organizations by providing evidence-based tools to improve emotional regulation and effective communication in various settings.<br/><br/><b>Goal</b>: <br/>To examine the relationship between emotions and the cognitive processes involved in emotional expressions through an experimental approach.
