Ethnography as a Research and Didactic Tool for Recovering the Oral Memory of Intercultural Bilingual Schools in the Ecuadorian Sierra

This project addresses the urgent need to document the oral history of Intercultural Bilingual Education (EIB) in Ecuador, a country with a rich history of educational struggles regionally. The main problem identified is the loss of historical knowledge due to the advanced age of key agents and recent educational reforms leading to the closure of bilingual intercultural schools. The proposed solution involves using ethnography as a research and didactic tool to collect testimonies about experiences in the northern and central sierra regions. This initiative is part of the activities for the Intercultural Bilingual Pedagogy course at the Salesian Polytechnic University. The fundamental goal is to preserve the legacy of EIB pioneers, ensuring that new generations understand the emergence and importance of this educational model, counteracting the lack of awareness caused by national system changes.<br/><br/><b>Goal</b>: <br/>To apply ethnography as a methodological strategy to collect the oral history of Intercultural Bilingual Education (EIB) in Ecuador.<br/><br/><b>Research lines</b>: <br/>Education, identity and knowledge
