Description
This project addresses the lack of updated vehicular emission inventories in Quito, Ecuador, a city located at 2850 meters above sea level. The research aims to determine pollutant emission factors (CO, HC, NOx, and CO2) for light-duty gasoline vehicles under Real Driving Emissions (RDE) conditions, adapting EURO 6 standards to local geographical and operational characteristics. Using Portable Emissions Measurement Systems (PEMS) and On-Board Diagnostics (OBD-II) data, the study will segment tests into urban, interurban, and highway phases. Descriptive and inferential statistics, along with machine learning models, will be applied to correlate operational parameters with emission levels. The results will validate emission factor models for high-altitude zones, providing a scientific basis for environmental and transport authorities to formulate effective public policies, improve air quality, and mitigate negative impacts on public health and the environment.<br/><br/><b>Goal</b>: <br/>Estimate pollutant emission factors for light-duty gasoline vehicles using Real Driving Emissions (RDE) tests in the Metropolitan District of Quito.
