Epistemology in the Peoples and Nationalities in Ecuador: Views from Education, their Resistances, and Advances (Phase 2)

This project addresses the need to overcome the Eurocentric thinking prevalent in the Ecuadorian educational system by promoting an approach centered on the logics and knowledge of indigenous peoples and nationalities, aligning with the constitutional concept of 'buen vivir' (good living). The study focuses on analyzing how Andean epistemological contents are structured within two key settings: the Millennium Educational Units and the Intercultural Bilingual Higher Pedagogical Institutes (ISPEDIB). The research aims to identify the actors involved in defining these contents to integrate them as the backbone of curricular plans, thereby guaranteeing the right to quality education that respects ancestral worldviews. The methodology employed is qualitative, utilizing discourse analysis, focus groups, and in-depth interviews with leaders from communities such as the Wao, Kichwa, and Shuar. The initial outcome seeks to collaboratively build a diagnosis and an improvement plan for the intercultural education of the Wao nationality, with the ultimate goal of managing the co-construction of a national intercultural education plan through dialogue between the State, indigenous peoples, and civil society.<br/><br/><b>Goal</b>: <br/>To characterize and define the Andean epistemological contents structured by the educational processes implemented in the Millennium Educational Institutions and the Intercultural Pedagogical Institutes of Ecuador.<br/><br/><b>Research lines</b>: <br/>Philosophy of education
