Project Details
Description
This project addresses the significant lack of systematic data and specific studies concerning the school population with multiple disabilities (MD) in Ecuador, a group requiring intensive and permanent support. The main objective is to characterize the educational situation of these students (aged 2 to 14) in Quito, Guayaquil, and Cuenca, contrasting the reality with existing policies that often fail to distinguish the particular needs of MD. The research adopts a descriptive and explanatory design, based on experiential data (ex post-facto), to describe the evolution of educational variables. The methodology involves characterization surveys, semi-structured interviews with teachers, families, and students, and the application of specific instruments such as the Functional Educational Evaluation Interview and Survey, in addition to an Inventory of adjustments and supports. The study aims to generate crucial information to propose effective educational strategies and guide families, fulfilling the mandate to guarantee quality education in line with the human rights of persons with disabilities, moving beyond a purely care-based approach.

Goal:
To analyze the educational situation of the population aged 2 to 14 years with multiple disabilities in schools in the cities of Quito, Guayaquil, and Cuenca, employing the functional educational evaluation approach.

Research lines:
Disability and education
