Project Details
Description
This research project focuses on analyzing the educational inclusion process for people with disabilities in 62 educational institutions located in Quito, Guayaquil, and Cuenca, Ecuador. The study addresses the problem of insufficient and inadequate data regarding the reality of people with disabilities in Latin America, and the need for systematic studies to guarantee their educational rights, as required by international bodies. The goal is to evaluate established policies, implemented educational practices, and the inclusive culture within these institutions, with a particular focus on students with intellectual, auditory, visual, psychosocial, and multiple disabilities. The methodology is transdisciplinary and explanatory, utilizing techniques such as Focus Groups, surveys, and interviews targeting administrators, teachers, parents, and students. The INDEX for Inclusion instrument will be applied for diagnosis. The project involves 62 Master's students in Special Education, who will link their thesis work to case studies. Expected outcomes include the publication of a book and several indexed scientific articles (Scopus, Web of Science, Scielo, Redalyc), as well as the generation of recommendations for improving public educational policies and teacher training, contributing to a more just and equitable society.

Goal:
To analyze the educational inclusion processes developed by 62 institutions in the cities of Quito, Guayaquil, and Cuenca, in order to extract lessons learned that contribute to the improvement and generation of public policies in the educational field.

Research lines:
Disability and education
