Project Details
Description
General objective
Establish the dynamics of the populations of P. xylostella and its parasitoids through monitoring and collection in the field, as well as laboratory observation of living material collected in each of the selected Brassica crop lots in the highlands region of Ecuador, to generate knowledge that contributes to the development of biological control of this pest.
Justification
The following work proposes to establish the dynamics of the populations of P. xylostella and its parasitoids through monitoring and collection in the field as well as laboratory observation of living material collected in each of the selected Brassica crop lots in the Sierra del Ecuador. Likewise, it is intended to advance in the study for the taxonomic identification of the parasitoid species associated with the plague, necessary and essential information for the establishment of a "biological control" plan that leads us to the long-awaited decrease in the use of pesticides in food production.
