Development and Implementation of a Centralized Monitoring and Predictive Maintenance System for Efficient Renewable Energy Management at the UPS South Campus

Project Details

Description

This project addresses the need for efficient energy management at the Universidad Politécnica Salesiana (UPS) SUR Campus through the implementation of a centralized monitoring and predictive maintenance system. Facing challenges of operational inefficiencies and unforeseen failures in renewable generation systems, a solution was developed that integrates sensors, real-time monitoring platforms, thermography, and 3D scanning. The technical approach enabled early fault detection, equipment performance optimization, and reduced downtime. The implementation not only strengthened the campus's technological infrastructure but also fostered a culture of innovation and sustainability among students and faculty. As a result, the project achieved smarter and more automated energy management, directly contributing to the reduction of the institution's carbon footprint. Furthermore, it generated a significant academic impact with the publication of scientific articles indexed in Scopus and the applied training of undergraduate students in the field of electricity.

Goal:
Develop and implement a centralized monitoring and predictive maintenance system to optimize renewable energy management at the UPS SUR Campus.
