This project addresses the necessity of implementing a demand management architecture in Ecuador's residential sector, an area currently lacking despite national interest and plans like the REDIE program. Demand response programs incentivize consumers to reduce consumption during peak grid conditions or high-cost periods in exchange for economic benefits, which is crucial given existing tariff subsidies like the 'tarifa de la dignidad.' The proposed solution focuses on developing a demand response system implemented within a Home Area Network (HAN), capitalizing on the high internet penetration in Ecuadorian households. The methodology begins with a state-of-the-art review of HAN solutions compatible with local smart home equipment and smart meters. Subsequently, a demand response method is analyzed and adapted to fit Ecuador's specific tariff and distribution system.
