This project addresses the growing demand for increased bandwidth and transmission speeds in fiber optic networks, driven by new applications and devices. The research focuses on evaluating and comparing two advanced data transmission techniques: Fast OFDM and Filter Bank Multicarrier (FBMC), both proposed for future networks. The main goal is to identify the strengths and weaknesses of each method within optical networks to optimize transmission rates and bandwidth efficiency. The methodology involves an extensive state-of-the-art investigation using scientific literature from databases such as ScienceDirect and IEEE Xplorer. The collected information will be used to develop mathematical models implemented in specialized simulation software for fiber optic networks.
