Community Health Promotion and Psychosocial Intervention in the Historic Center of Quito

This Participatory Action Research (IAP) project addresses the complex psychosocial effects and tensions arising from heritage revitalization policies within the communities of the Historic Center of Quito, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The main goal is to strengthen community health and enhance social inclusion and heritage revitalization through targeted psychosocial interventions. Work has been implemented in key sectors such as La Ronda neighborhood, the house of arts, Plaza 24 de Mayo, and the Recoleta Asylum, serving diverse populations including vulnerable children and the elderly. Interventions have included inclusive games, cultural promotion, social memory reconstruction, active aging, and psychosocial intervention. The IAP methodology is based on participatory, ethical, transformative, and reflective principles, structuring the process through phases that include comprehensive diagnosis, project development, continuous evaluation, and feedback to beneficiaries.
