Cognitive Development, Quality of Life, and Subjective Perception of Aging in Older Adults in the Metropolitan District of Quito (Phase 3)

This research project aims to characterize aging in older adults (60 years and over) residing in the Metropolitan District of Quito, differentiating between rural and urban (north and south) zones. The study addresses the dimensions of cognition, quality of life, and subjective perception of aging, set against the backdrop of population aging and the need to promote the active aging policy (WHO). The investigation employs a mixed-methods approach (qualitative and quantitative) with exploratory and descriptive scope. The quantitative component will measure psychological and contextual functions using tests and surveys, while the qualitative approach seeks to delve into the constructed meanings of aging through methods such as narrative productions, pictorial analysis (projective and fractal), and semi-structured interviews. A key secondary objective is to analyze the care trajectories and conceptions of illness and care in cases of dementia (such as Alzheimer's), involving caregivers and health professionals. The ultimate purpose is to generate in-depth knowledge to outline appropriate interventions that ensure rights and improve the well-being of this population.<br/><br/><b>Goal</b>: <br/>To determine the characteristics of aging exhibited by older adults in the Metropolitan District of Quito (rural, north urban, and south urban zones), specifically concerning cognition, quality of life, and subjective perception of aging.<br/><br/><b>Research lines</b>: <br/>Mental health
