Body and Juvenile Images on the Facebook Social Network

This research project addresses the insufficiency of traditional definitions of youth based solely on age brackets, proposing a deep sociocultural analysis anchored in the construction of subjectivities and corporealities in the digital age. The study aims to move beyond the limited view that associates NICT usage exclusively with youth, recognizing that these sociotechnical tools generate new sensibilities across all cultures. The methodology focuses on the entanglement between subjects and NICT, using the analysis of body and image construction on the Facebook social network within the Metropolitan District of Quito as a case study. The research is structured in three phases: bibliographic review of theoretical approaches and the status of the digital image; fieldwork involving the observation of Facebook (screens and hypertextuality) and the application of interviews and focus groups with participants; and finally, the cross-analysis of in-person and virtual findings to characterize the contemporary youth condition based on the digital 'body-image'.<br/><br/><b>Goal</b>: <br/>To explore the contemporary youth condition in the Metropolitan District of Quito by analyzing the formation of bodies and identities interacting socially through the use and appropriation of New Information and Communication Technologies (NICT), specifically on the social network Facebook.<br/><br/><b>Research lines</b>: <br/>nan
