Description
This research project, in its fourth phase, focuses on the bioprospecting of native beneficial microorganisms found in economically important fruit crops in Ecuador. Given the problem of excessive agrochemical use, which affects human health, food quality, and the environment, this initiative proposes biological control as a sustainable and effective alternative.
The methodological approach includes the isolation, molecular identification, and in vitro validation of strains with antagonistic capacity against phytopathogens. Subsequently, formulation tests and trials under real field conditions will be conducted to evaluate their efficacy. The project aims to establish a bank of viable strains to enable the mass production of ecosystem-friendly bio-inputs.
Expected results include the generation of scientific publications, the training of undergraduate students through thesis work, and the transfer of knowledge to the agricultural community. By reducing dependence on chemical inputs, the project contributes to cleaner production, improving food safety and promoting responsible agricultural practices that protect natural resources and the health of producers.<br/><br/><b>Goal</b>: <br/>Evaluate native microorganisms with biocontrol potential against pests and diseases in economically important fruit crops in Ecuador.
