Project Details
Description
This project represents the second phase of a three-year program focused on Knowledge Management, aiming to identify the underlying causes for the varying longevity of manufacturing SMEs in Guayaquil, considering that 90% of the Ecuadorian productive apparatus comprises SMEs, yet many do not survive beyond ten years. The main objective is to analyze the organizational resilience factors present in the administrators and owners. The preliminary first stage suggested a qualitative incidence of intellectual capital on management but left the correlation with organizational resilience open. The methodology employed will be inductive, starting with observation of the current situation and evaluation of primary and secondary data (qualitative and quantitative) from the SMEs. Exploratory, descriptive, and correlational research levels will be used, applying case studies combined with the ex post facto method. The study seeks to establish whether resilience exists in these companies and, ultimately, formulate scientific propositions that validate the importance of empirical knowledge and personnel value, consolidating the variables into a key indicator for conclusions tailored to the Ecuadorian reality.

Goal:
To determine the organizational resilience factors influencing the long-term sustainability of administrators and/or owners of manufacturing Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the city of Guayaquil over the last ten years.

Research lines:
Organization of production and technological innovation
