Research Interests
The research focuses on the intersection of communication, social movements, and political struggle, with a particular emphasis on the Ecuadorian and Latin American contexts. A central theme is the study of activist communication as a tool for resistance against extractive capitalism and authoritarianism. This includes analyzing how indigenous, feminist, and environmental networks utilize hybrid media, transmedia mobilization, and performative practices to defend territories and human rights. The work explores the concept of the 'eco-territorial turn,' examining how community cinema and audiovisual creation serve as mechanisms for self-representation and the preservation of memory among indigenous populations. Furthermore, the research investigates the role of digital media in political legitimation, analyzing how narratives of power, securitization, and gendered violence are constructed and contested in the public sphere. By integrating critical discourse analysis and multisited ethnography, the studies map the evolving repertoires of collective action, highlighting the importance of epistemic justice and the configuration of plural knowledge in contemporary communication studies.
