Research Interests

Recent research:
The integrated work across multiple projects advances accessible, technology‑assisted education and health interventions for people with disabilities and for aging populations. This body builds and evaluates low‑cost, scalable robotics and computer vision systems, intelligent educational tools, and multimodal interfaces designed to augment therapy, rehabilitation, inclusive learning, and self‑care. We describe platforms for EMG‑based rehabilitation monitoring and gait/pose analysis, FONA robotic assistants for speech and cognitive support, Robbie‑style therapy aids, and AI‑enabled learning resources with accessible metadata. Across settings, the research demonstrates how rule‑based and data‑driven approaches can deliver tactile, visual, and cognitive stimulation; support inclusive education; and enable early detection and screening in rural or resource‑limited contexts. The results highlight improved attention, engagement, and autonomy in children and older adults, alongside feasible production and deployment models (collaborative networks, MTO, AWS) that reduce costs and enhance reach in developing regions. Overall, the work contributes to sustainable, user‑centered assistive technology and educational tools that promote health outcomes, inclusion, and quality of life for underserved communities.
