Recent research:
The publications collectively explore how cultural heritage and interculturality shape national identities, cultural rights, and media-based governance in Ecuador. The work traces the transformation of a radio heritage project (Ñuca Ecuador) into a multimedia, multimodal archive—culminating in a series of graphic books that honor cultural diversity and highlight the roles of Afro-descendant communities and the Comboni Mission in strengthening cultural identity and defending rights. A parallel emphasis lies on the role of digital media in higher education communications, where the Salesian Polytechnic University’s online radio initiative evolves into a transmedia platform (upsenlinea) that integrates a TV channel, digital magazine, and online network to advance accessible, integrated media production. Methodologically, the research foregrounds case-based documentation of heritage initiatives, reflects on intercultural governance and policy implications for cultural rights, and examines institutional leadership and digital media integration as drivers of inclusive media ecosystems. The impact themes include safeguarding cultural heritage, promoting social inclusion of marginalized groups, and advancing digital storytelling and media literacy through university-driven, community-facing media projects.
