Personal profile
Research Interests
This portfolio presents a coherent program at the intersection of Biomedical Engineering and neurotechnology, emphasizing multimodal neural and sensory interfaces, advanced acquisition and stimulation systems, and technology-enhanced education. Across studies, the work advances (i) neural correlates of perception and attention using electrophysiological measures (e.g., auditory attention via ASSR, hemispheric laterality), (ii) multimodal neural stimulation and recording with programmable, multi-channel platforms enabling simultaneous diverse stimuli and real-time processing (MADQ; two-channel CPT and two-stimulus systems), and (iii) applied technology for rehabilitation and education, including development of a remote-controlled Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) device and an educational game to promote healthy eating among vulnerable youth. Methodologically, the research combines EEG/ERP-like analyses (e.g., MSC for ASSR, ERD/ERS dynamics), precise electrical stimulation paradigms (sinusoidal, square waveforms; two arbitrary waveforms; multiple frequencies), user-friendly interfaces (Python, LabVIEW), and rigorous device characterization (IRN, NFB, ENOB, THD, crosstalk), often with small-sample human experiments or pilot demonstrations. The impact lies in providing new tools and evidence to tailor neurophysiological investigations and rehabilitation protocols, while also translating technology into practical educational and health interventions.
