Research Interests

Recent research:
This body’s work advances reliability, protection, and optimization in electrical power systems, with a strong emphasis on low- and medium-voltage distribution networks, microgrids, and smart protection strategies. The studies integrate data-driven and metaheuristic approaches (clustering, Ant Colony Optimization, Wavelet transforms, and minimum spanning trees) to improve fault detection, localization, and response, as well as to optimize protection coordination and relay placement. Collectively, the work demonstrates how advanced signal processing and optimization techniques can enhance system resilience, reduce fault impact, and improve safety in distribution networks while leveraging simulation tools (e.g., CYME) and practical case studies. The research highlights the critical role of intelligent protection schemes, fault localization, and coordinated protection device configurations in preventing outages and safeguarding lives in electrical grids.

Key Topics:
  • Power Systems, Renewable Energy & Microgrids
  • Optimization, Operations Research & Decision Support
  • Control Systems, Automation & Industrial Control (SCADA/PLC)
  • Sensors, Instrumentation & Measurement Systems
