Research Interests
Integrated across environmental science, waste management, and energy systems, the researcher analyzes end‑of‑life waste scenarios, pro‑environmental behavior models, and anaerobic digestion for sustainable waste valorization. The PET life cycle assessment contrasts recycling versus landfilling, highlighting limited environmental gains beyond global warming reduction and calling for full cradle‑to‑grave analysis and mechanical recycling with feedstock flakes. Building on behavioral theory, the NAM framework is applied to a large urban sample to model how external influences and environmental values shape personal norms and pro‑environmental actions (recycling, avoiding, activism, green consumption, waste prevention) in a Latin American context. In renewable energy and bioenergy, artisanal anaerobic digesters test co‑digestion of waste cooking oil with animal and restaurant waste, showing enhanced biogas output in co‑digestion scenarios. Collectively, the work advances integrated, context‑specific approaches to reducing environmental impact from waste via lifecycle assessment, behavior‑influenced policy design, and small‑scale biogas optimization.
