Recent research:
This body of work offers a cohesive narrative of inclusive education within Ecuador’s higher education and public programs, highlighting how collaborative, design-for-learning approaches and reflective systematization drive social impact. Across studies, the author(s) examine (i) inclusive teaching practices aligned with Universal Design for Learning, cooperative governance among managers, teachers, and students, and the role of action research in continuous improvement; (ii) the challenges of data gaps and policy evaluation for people with disabilities, emphasizing the need for systematic studies on multiple disabilities and personalized educational proposals; (iii) evaluation of state-supported home and community care for people with multiple disabilities, revealing limitations of a medical-rehabilitation focus and underscoring interculturality and education as essential components of autonomy; (iv) the social and educational significance of linking projects and institutional experiences that demonstrate long-term impact on society; and (v) reflections on higher education during the pandemic, including cognitive and humanistic dimensions of crisis response, and the balance between professional adaptation and inclusive teaching amid disruption. The methodologies span qualitative descriptions, descriptive designs, and action research in educational settings, public policy analysis, and pandemic-era pedagogy. Collectively, the work contributes to understanding how inclusive, culturally aware, and collaboratively developed educational practices can transform learning environments and promote autonomy for people with disabilities, while highlighting gaps in data, policy, and intercultural considerations that shape Ecuadorian educational reform and social inclusion.
