Recent research:
The consolidated work across the three publications centers on how early and basic education training programs connect theory and practice to shape teacher identity, classroom communication, and community engagement within diverse socio-educational settings. The first study analyzes pre-professional practicum across centers in Quito (2017–2021), highlighting how student teachers integrate didactics of Language and Literature, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, and Mathematics with technology-mediated interactions and community intervention projects. It demonstrates how practicum experiences cultivate familiarity with social context, pedagogical models, and curricular frameworks, positioning students as agents of change within the graduation trajectory. The second and third publications foreground a research-informed, practice-based approach to teacher education where student teachers become ethnographer-researchers, using action research and qualitative methods to examine school life, classroom dynamics, and the interplay between theory and practice. They document how initial teacher training combines practice with research from the outset, revealing insights from childcare centers and schools and emphasizing observation, reflection, and contextualized inquiry as vehicles for professional growth. Collectively, these works advocate for pedagogical communication, reflective practice, and community involvement as core mechanisms to improve teaching and learning, student motivation, and the development of a responsive educator identity in early-childhood and elementary education. The impact lies in systematic documentation of practicum processes, the promotion of teacher-as-researcher roles, and actionable implications for program design, curriculum alignment, and community-centered education.
