Personal profile
Research Interests
The consolidated body of work centers on how individuals interact with educational, social, and political environments across Latin America, with a strong focus on Ecuador. The research program validates and applies psychometric instruments (e.g., Academic Delay of Gratification Scale, New Media Literacy Scale, SWING, Maslach Burnout Inventory for Students, Job Crafting scale) to university and workplace settings, ensuring reliability, factorial validity, and cross-cultural applicability. Methodologically, the author combines large-scale surveys, cross-sectional and repeated cross-sectional designs, confirmatory factor analyses, structural equation modeling, and regression analyses to examine determinants and consequences of academic performance, engagement, burnout, procrastination, non-cognitive factors, protest and political participation, online/offline political behavior, and media usage. Theoretically, inquiries draw on education, psychology, social well-being, political communication, and disinformation, integrating grievance, planned behavior, internal/external political efficacy, and socialization processes. The impact lies in providing validated measurement tools for Latin American contexts, nuanced insights into how emotions, beliefs, and digital behaviors shape educational outcomes, health, and political engagement, and implications for policy, pedagogy, and intervention programs that promote inclusion, resilience, and constructive civic participation across diverse populations.
