Research Interests

Recent research:
The collection of works analyzed here converges on the central theme of aging, neurodegenerative diseases, and their psychological, social, and public health implications. Across qualitative and quantitative methods, the research emphasizes understanding the experiences of older adults and caregivers, the social and emotional dimensions of dementia, and the validation and reliability of measurement tools in diverse cultural contexts. Methodologies range from qualitative phenomenology and narrative approaches to systematic reviews and meta-analyses of psychometric instruments. The impact lies in (1) informing humane, person-centered interventions and caregiver training for Alzheimer’s disease; (2) highlighting risk factors and public health strategies for encephalitis and neurodegenerative conditions; (3) synthesizing neurobiological and environmental factors in aging to promote cognitive reserve and neuroplasticity; and (4) validating robust, culturally appropriate instruments (CES-D, FTD knowledge tools) to improve screening, diagnosis, and cross-cultural assessment. Collectively, the work advances clinical psychology, epidemiology, and health education by linking empirical findings to practical strategies for improving quality of life and care for older adults and individuals with neurodegenerative diseases.
