Research Interests
The research focuses on the modernization and optimization of electrical power systems, with a strong emphasis on integrating renewable energy sources and advanced digital technologies. A significant portion of the work addresses the technical and economic viability of hybrid renewable energy systems for rural electrification, utilizing simulation tools to optimize component sizing and reduce environmental impact. Furthermore, the research explores the integration of distributed generation into medium-voltage grids, developing models for energy balance and transaction management that ensure grid stability and economic feasibility.
A core component of this work involves the application of computational intelligence and evolutionary algorithms to address challenges in modern power distribution, such as the impact of electric vehicle charging loads and the optimization of network topologies. Additionally, the research contributes to the digitalization of the energy sector by evaluating artificial intelligence applications for market design and decarbonization, as well as implementing remote telemanagement systems for public lighting to enhance energy efficiency. Finally, the work advances theoretical and practical fault analysis in multi-phase power systems, providing robust methodologies for protection coordination and reliability improvement in distribution networks.
