Research Interests

Recent research:
The research focuses on the intersection of materials science, engineering, and clinical dentistry, with a strong emphasis on the mechanical characterization and optimization of advanced materials. A significant portion of the work involves evaluating restorative dental materials, specifically comparing the fracture resistance, microhardness, and mechanical behavior of CAD/CAM-fabricated ceramics, bulk-fill composites, and 3D-printed polymers under thermo-mechanical aging conditions. These studies provide critical insights into material longevity and clinical performance.

Beyond dentistry, the research explores the development and processing of sustainable biocomposites, particularly those reinforced with natural fibers like bamboo and sisal. This includes investigating the influence of fiber content, coupling agents, and manufacturing techniques—such as injection molding and FFF printing—on the mechanical, thermal, and rheological properties of these materials. Furthermore, the work extends to industrial engineering applications, including the remanufacturing of mechanical components, structural optimization of steel frames, and the development of non-thermal sterilization technologies. Methodological contributions include the use of finite element analysis, micromechanical modeling, and digital image processing for corrosion detection and quality control, aiming to enhance industrial efficiency and sustainability.

Key Topics:
  • Mechanical characterization of dental restorative materials
  • Biocomposite development and natural fiber reinforcement
  • Additive and subtractive manufacturing processes
  • Structural engineering and mechanical design optimization
  • Tribology and thermal aging of polymer composites
  • Digital image processing for industrial quality control
