Research Interests

Recent research:
The body of work across the publications presents an integrated, multidisciplinary approach to embedded sensing, control, and sustainability in engineering applications. A recurring thread is the deployment of wireless and sensorized systems for real-time control and monitoring in biomedical, robotic, and environmental contexts. Several studies compare and validate communication protocols (ESP-NOW vs UDP/IP) for low-latency exoskeleton control, while others design and test smart devices and control architectures for prosthetics, rehabilitation, and assistive robotics, emphasizing near-zero latency, robust state machines, and user-centric interfaces. Environmental sustainability emerges through environmental management systems in university settings, solar energy simulations for residential heating, and low-temperature solar thermal integration, highlighting the translation of standards, modeling, and life-cycle considerations into practical, scalable solutions. The methodological core combines experimental hardware-in-the-loop testing, numerical modeling (ANSYS Discovery, ADAMS, TRNSYS), signal processing (EMG, cough/biometric data), machine learning for classification and diagnosis, and control system design (hierarchical control, finite state machines, UDP/Imocap-GIS integration). The impact lies in advancing reliable, efficient, and accessible technologies for health, mobility, energy, and environmental stewardship, with a strong emphasis on feasibility, usability, and alignment with international standards. These works collectively push forward practical, user-centered engineering solutions that integrate sensing, actuation, and intelligent control in real-world contexts.
