Research Interests
The research focuses on the advancement of high-speed optical communication systems, specifically Passive Optical Networks (PON) and their evolution toward 5G and 6G fronthaul architectures. A core objective has been the optimization of physical layer performance, utilizing advanced modulation formats such as PAM-4, PAM-8, and complex multi-carrier schemes like UFMC and GFDM to enhance spectral efficiency and data rates. Methodological approaches involve extensive co-simulation between optical and radio-frequency domains, alongside experimental validation using Software Defined Radio (SDR) and Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP) platforms. Key investigations include the mitigation of transmission impairments through chromatic dispersion compensation, filter-assisted detection, and bias voltage optimization. Furthermore, the work explores the integration of machine learning for network management and the design of specialized hardware, including THz nanoantennas and microstrip patch antennas, to support future wireless connectivity. These efforts collectively aim to improve receiver sensitivity, reduce bit error rates (BER), and ensure robust, low-latency performance in next-generation communication infrastructures.
