Research Interests
This body of work presents a cohesive program aimed at enhancing performance, safety, and efficiency across engineered systems in mobility, agriculture, energy, and manufacturing. The studies integrate design, simulation, and experimentation to (1) strengthen and reduce vibration in electric go-kart chassis using SolidWorks and ANSYS with validation on an urban circuit, (2) automate and rationalize post-harvest handling in tomato production through a size/weight classification machine guided by producer input and feasibility analysis, (3) optimize hydraulic ram pump performance via multi-valve impulse configurations using ANSYS Fluent, achieving substantial efficiency gains, (4) advance precision alignment tooling for horizontally coupled machines with 3D-printed hardware and proximity sensor electronics plus a universal web interface for real-time monitoring, and (5) model diffusion of non-conventional renewables in Ecuador with System Dynamics, highlighting incentive structures (feed-in tariffs and tradable certificates) as key drivers of adoption, plus a dairy lactose grinding optimization demonstrating energy and material savings through process parameter tuning and advanced media (Cylpebs). Collectively, the research advances practical engineering solutions and policy-relevant insights, emphasizing integrative methodologies, validation through experiments or simulations, and life-cycle or market impact considerations.
