Research Interests
The work converges on the design, fabrication, and evaluation of patient-specific bone implants and surgical planning tools using additive manufacturing and advanced imaging. Across multiple studies, the author(s) develop end-to-end methodologies that start with CT-based segmentation to generate accurate 3D anatomical models, produce surgical guides and custom implants (often PMMA or PEEK/biocompatible polymers), and employ finite element analysis and standardized testing to assess mechanical performance under tensile, compressive, and bending loads. The research demonstrates tangible clinical benefits: reduced surgical time and morbidity, improved aesthetic and functional outcomes, and expanded access through low-cost printing workflows and open-source tools. Methodologically, the work integrates CAD modeling, STL generation, FDM/other AM processes, post-processing for surgical accuracy, and biomechanical validation aligned with ASTM and AISC/FEM standards.
