Research Interests

Recent research:
The collection of works integrates biomedical engineering, robotics, and public health with a strong emphasis on translational impact. Across healthcare, rehabilitation, and public health domains, the research analyzes risk factors of sedentary behavior and pressure-related tissue damage, and evaluates sensor-enhanced cushions and alternating-pressure systems to redistribute load and prevent ulcers. It also surveys corneal biomechanics, glaucoma and cardiovascular diagnostics through AI, deep learning, and innovative imaging techniques, including ultrasound elasticity and neural networks for intraocular pressure prediction, while addressing ethical considerations in bioengineering, roboethics, and governance. In robotics and control, the papers propose time-invariant inverse-kinematics controllers and strategies for socially aware, person-following mobile robots, with attention to actuating limits and trajectory tracking. Collectively, the work demonstrates a multidisciplinary approach to improving diagnosis, treatment planning, patient safety, and human-robot interaction, underpinned by computational modeling, signal processing, and ethical/governance frameworks that guide responsible innovation.
